Escaping Mount Stupid
When people begin any project in life or work , in the initial face they have 100% confidence and maybe 2% knowledge, probably even lesser.
In the above given graph you can see the relationship between competence and confidence.
Most people reach the Peak of mount stupid ( don’t know shit , got big plans ) within the first few hours of planning the project. Soon follows the REAL WORK. After just a few days of starting a new project , most people arrive in the valley of despair ( know some shit, discovering major flaws in the big plans ).
To summarize :
don’t know shit ( changes to ) → came to know some shit
got big plans ( changes to ) → big plans had flaws
90% of the people stop at this stage and run away.
But this relationship clearly states that real PROGRESS has been made in these chain of events. simply put :
knowledge has been gained , false knowledge has been eliminated
major flaws in plans have been identified , they need rework
Then why do 90% of the people stop here ? It’s an agency problem. Any work that people pick without realising their autonomy in this world , without realising that they can be agentic would end in utter failure.
So, develop high agency and keep going! As long as work is put in , there will be progress.
